📰 GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK
Taste Around Abby event set to debut later this month
Abbotsford’s food scene is kicking off a brand-new winter event called Taste Around Abby from January 21 to February 4 — and it’s all about tasty three-course meals at local spots around town.
The idea? Hit up participating restaurants like Restaurant 62, Amici Italian Osteria & Wine Bar, Tasty Indian Bistro, Table Bistro, Bow and Stern, and Ministère of Seafood for special prix-fixe menus priced roughly $40–$70. Grab a table, dig in, and maybe snap a pic for the ‘gram while you’re at it.
Tourism Abbotsford says Taste Around Abby grew out of the popular Taste of Abby series — a way to keep the local foodie vibes going even in the quieter winter months and to celebrate the connection between chefs and local farms.
Whether you’re looking for a fun dinner date, a chance to try somewhere new, or just a good meal with friends, this is the perfect excuse to explore Abby’s culinary scene.
All-ages EDM festival travels to Abbotsford for first time ever
Heads up, music lovers — Lost In Dreams, a popular all-ages electronic dance music festival from the U.S., is rolling into Abbotsford for the first time ever on Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Tradex!
This event — put on by Insomniac, the same crew behind some of North America’s biggest EDM parties — brings future bass, melodic dubstep and vocal-driven dance music to town.
The lineup is solid: Illenium is headlining (his first Lower Mainland show in six years), plus sets from Elephante, Dabin, Sabai, and Telykast, along with some local talent like DJ Koji Aiken.
It’s open to all ages, but if you’re 19+ you can snag a VIP ticket. Shows kick off at 6 p.m., and there are shuttle options from Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby if you don’t want to drive.
Whether you’re a die-hard raver or just want to check out something new in Abby, this one’s shaping up to be a fun night of beats and good energy.
Abbotsford charity partners with PetSmart to feed hungry Fraser Valley cats
Abbotsford charity Abby Cat Daddy has teamed up with PetSmart to run a winter cat food donation drive — and it’s all about helping hungry cats across the Fraser Valley.
Until the end of January, you can drop off dry or wet cat food at donation bins set up at four local PetSmart stores in Abbotsford (Sumas and Highstreet), Chilliwack, and Surrey Boardwalk during regular store hours.
Last year Abby Cat Daddy helped 200+ cats through Trap-Neuter-Return and about 100 used their feline food bank, so there’s definitely a need. Founder Logan Bryan says even grabbing an extra bag of food while you shop can make a real difference for animals facing food insecurity.
Can’t make it to the store? You can also help out with a digital donation on their site.

🐾 BEST BUDDY OF THE WEEK

COURTESY OF THE BC SPCA
Isla is a gorgeous, middle-aged Husky with a heart full of love and a spirit built for adventure. Loyal, outgoing, and just the right amount of mischievous, Isla is the perfect companion for an active home looking for a fun-loving and devoted friend.
Like most Huskies, Isla is athletic and energetic – she thrives on long walks, outdoor play, and mental stimulation. (Bonus: she’s great on leash!) Despite her age, she’s still got plenty of pep in her step and would love a home that can keep up with her adventurous side.
Isla absolutely adores being with her people and can get quite anxious when left alone, so a home where someone is around most of the time would be ideal. She must always be walked on a secure harness or supervised in a fully fenced yard – she’s a curious girl with a knack for escaping if left to her own devices!
This clever lady does have a strong prey drive and can’t resist chasing small animals, so a securely enclosed space is a must. She may be able to live with another dog, but introductions should be slow, calm, and carefully managed to ensure a good fit.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will join you on every adventure and reward you with endless affection, Isla might just be the one for you!
